Guam's Finest Rides!

This past weekend (Sunday, February 19th) Hit Radio 100 held it's 15th AutoJam Car Show at The Paseo Park in Hagatna! We had lots of great vehicles out there, but not all that Guam had to offer. We are thankful for those car clubs and car enthusiasts for doing what you do! Here are some photo highlights!

Here is Daniel Quenga's 1923 Ford Roadster tok 1st Place in the Classics Category.

Next year, we hope to have two different categories of Classics with Old School and Modern Classics separated.

This one, though, was worth the time it took to get it ready for AutoJam!

My wife, Rita and Craig Nugent's 1964 Buick Special...a real beauty...the car, too! Thank you, Craig! This baby took second place in the Classics Category.

The champagne color was pure magic!

And, finally...at least for today...this one:

Goodbye to our beloved old workhorse! This old Ford F-250 has been in the Hit Radio 100 stable for almost 15 years. With less than 70K miles on it, a new paint job and even the old school Hit Radio 100 logo...it was time to retire this monster to the mainstream!

Have you seen DAKOTA FANNING'S headgear??? She's cute now, but the girl's got some SERIOUS dental issues. Looks like her parents are protecting their little blonde investment with some pre-emptive straightening work.

This makes me wonder because my kids' dentist is saying that my daughters will need braces!

YIKES!

WHEW! Time to stop...back to business...this week, we mourn the loss of some great people:

EUGENE "GORDON" LEE. . . better known as PORKY from the "Our Gang" (slash) "Little Rascals" comedies. . . died last Sunday of lung cancer at a nursing home in Minneapolis. He was 71.

Porky is seen here with the rest of the Little Rascals, including (from left) Spanky, Billie "Buckwheat" Thomas, Porky, Alfalfa and Darla Hood.

Porky was usually paired up with BUCKWHEAT, and the two acted as tag-alongs to SPANKY and ALFALFA. A longtime friend of Lee's took this sad moment as an opportunity to inform the world that it was Porky, and NOT BUCKWHEAT, who first mispronounced "okay" as "O-TAY".

The "Little Rascals" kept me and my sisters sane during our latch-key kids years...thanks for the memories!

Porky is the second "Rascal" to pass on in recent weeks. TOMMY "BUTCH" BOND (left) died September 24th, at the age of 79 . . . AND . . .

***ROSA PARKS (1913 - 2005)***

ROSA PARKS died yesterday, at age 92, in a hospital in Detroit. She's one of the most notable names and faces from the fight for civil rights in America.

Rosa Parks is most famous for what she did on December 1st, 1955. . . when she refused to move to the back of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, and give her seat to a white person. She was arrested, tried, and convicted for disorderly conduct and violating a local ordinance.

That arrest sparked MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., and other civil rights leaders to call for the legendary Montgomery Bus Boycott. For a full 381 days, the ENTIRE black community. . . and some enlightened other people, too. . . refused to ride buses in Montgomery (--even though many of them had no money for cars and had relied on the buses to get EVERYWHERE, including to work.)

That boycott eventually forced lawmakers to get rid of the racist "whites in the front, blacks in the back" bus policy. In 1956, thanks to Rosa Parks' case, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that segregated bus service was unconstitutional.

Rosa Parks was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. . . the nation's highest civilian honor. . . in 1999 for her lifetime of fighting racism. In November of 2001, the Rosa Parks Library and Museum opened in Montgomery.

In her later years, sadly, she suffered from dementia and lived in a nursing home.

The exact cause of her death wasn't revealed yesterday; family members just said she was, quote, "ill." (Detroit Free Press / Wikipedia)

How the mighty have fallen: VICTOR WILLIS. . . who used to patrol the streets and underground gay bars as the cop in the VILLAGE PEOPLE. . . now has a warrant out for HIS arrest!!! Victor failed to show up in court in San Mateo County, California, to be sentenced on drug charges. He had previously accepted a plea bargain that would send him to prison for a maximum of 16 months after he was caught this summer with cocaine AND a loaded .45 semi-automatic handgun in his car.

CHARLIZE THERON has signed on to do a five episode guest stint on the upcoming season of "Arrested Development". She'll play a hot British minx that JASON BATEMAN'S character becomes infatuated with. She'll first appear in the second episode of the season, which will air on September 26th.

Theron (pictured right at the Rick and Ronnie Star Wars Movie Premiere) says that Jason Bateman was her second favorite character on "Silver Spoons"; her favorite being that buff blonde guy, Ricky Schroeder. She also adds that thongs rock!)

See, Brad got snapped taking care of 4-year-old Maddox and 7-month-old Zahara in New York City, where Angelina is filming a movie called "The Good Shepherd". So how are Brad's skills??? ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS GET CRAZY FOR AMERICA!

Extreme Immigration paralyzes authorities! Border Patrol Throws Up Arms In Frustration!

"Not Really" -- Human Cannonball Record-Holder David Smith, Sr. makes a run for the border the easy way.

You know We LOVE when people innovate new ways to cross the border from Mexico. . . 'cause, ya know, hiding under some bushels of hay in some guy's truck is SO last year. . .this one is legendary. Last Saturday afternoon, David Smith Senior was FIRED OUT OF A CANNON in Tijuana. . . and flew about 150 feet. . . right across the border into San Diego!!!

He wasn't illegally immigrating. . . David is an American guy. . . and the whole thing was part of Tijuana's effort to promote the arts. Javier Tellez, an artist from Venezuela who set up the whole thing, says the event was, quote, "a living sculpture."

David is a legendary human cannonball; he's the world record holder for the distance traveled by a human fired from a cannon, at 185 feet, 10 inches. His son, two daughters and one cousin are also human cannonballs.

To pull off the Tijuana stunt, Javier and David actually had to get special permission from the U.S. Border Patrol. . . since, even for U.S. citizens, it's illegal to enter the country outside of an official port of entry.

In front of a crowd of about 600 people, David was fired from a beach in Tijuana and landed in a net in Border Field State Park in San Diego. He didn't suffer any injuries. (San Diego Union Tribune)

Jon Sabares, Hit Radio 100's awesome afternoon show, returned from Los Angeles after a two-day radio commercial seminar where he improved his already dope production skills!
